Alan Sill | This talk gives a general background covering the development of high performance computing technology with an emphasis on distributed and collaborative systems, and describes the emergence of the Open Grid Forum and its interaction with other standards developing organizations. A demonstration is included of our NSF CAC cloud standards testbed projects as implemented on the NSF Cloudlab resources. This talk was given at the Department of Computing and Mathematics in the College of Engineering and Technology at the University of Derby. The NSF CAC will use its industry/university connections to promote and foster open cloud standards and interoperability testbeds using internal and external resources. Specific projects have been proposed and approved on two new NSF computer-science-oriented cloud "testbed as a service" resources, Chameleon and CloudLab, which have recently been funded to replace the FutureGrid project.
